A new Facebook game that pushes the boundaries of social networking called Happy Oasis features Arab super heroes that are out to change their world, and is hoping to create good role models for those who live in extremist areas that otherwise may become infatuated with extremist views due to their environment. Happy Oasis has only launched this week, but already there are 50,000 people playing it and the game is bringing with it plenty of rave reviews for its developer Suleiman Bakhit who has experienced quite a bit of prejudice since 9/11.
Bakhit studied in Jordan but was a student at the University of Minnesota when the September 11th events occurred and just a few weeks afterwards was attacked because of his nationality. This spurned Bakhit to start an education campaign of his own by staring with the young to prove that not all Arabs are terrorists, and that in reality the opposite is actually true. He stated that his inspiration came from the fact that a child asked who the Arab superman was and he realized that was not actually one causing him to start his own project to give children something positive to look at.
